Ziegfeld Girl No.1 Acrylic 11x14
SOLD
I love portraits. The landscape of the face fascinates me. Here is a woman whose only history I know is a photograph, but she lived, grew up, loved and had all the heartaches we all experience. I wonder what her life was like.

Girl With Camera 9x12 Acrylic
I like these monotone paintings. They remind me of some of the illustrations inside the Saturday Evening Post and other magazines. Sometimes monotone drawings and paintings appeared to illustrate stories in place of full color illustrations. I always thought they held a certain charm.

In Line 9x12 Acrylic
This is a drawing done with paint. A painted drawing. It is acrylic using only burnt umber and white. The woman was in line at a concession stand at an art festival. I couldn't resist the dress and black shoes.

Trisha 11x14 Acrylic
SOLD
Trisha is a friend who I have known for a while. She was wearing this wonderful black dress. I asked her to pose for me. She sat down and struck this pose and that was that.

Intuition 11x14 Acrylic

This painting is a departure for me. The painting is entirely out of my head. No model and no references used. I am looking for work that is meaningful, personal. The portraits are very meaningful for me, but I am searching for that inner voice I know is there when I look at a blank canvas. I am listening to that still, small voice of intuition that I hear whispering Imagination, Spirituality, Poetry.

Shading The Sun 9x12 Acrylic

It was a bright, chilly morning and this lady was holding a piece of paper up to shade the sun from her eyes. She glanced in my direction just as I snapped a picture. These are the moments in time that I love to capture in paint.

Woman At Concert 5x7 Acrylic

From a concert in a park along the banks of the Mississippi River, again. The background was full of people and equipment, but I decided to focus on the lady and abstract everything

Pictures At An Exhibition 5x7 Acrylic

I love to paint people going about their lives. I always carry a camera. I take pictures first and ask permission later. If you ask first, people become self-conscience and act like they are posing. It never works. They rarely say no.
